Group Workshops
On-site:
In planning for 2007 are several group workshops to be held
here at the Fiber Kingdom. These will either be taught by
me (Sylvia Graham) or by a person with expertise in some
special technique. A sampling of past workshop topics includes
Weaving a Nantucket Basket, Spinning Fine
Linen Yarn, Spinning on a Charka, Dyeing
with Cocchineal, Laminated Felt, Needle-felting
and Blue & Green, Naturally. As plans are
finalized information will be posted here and on the Announcement
and calendar page. If you are not local and need accommodations
there are charming B&Bs available in the immediate
area as well as seasonal camping facilities.
At Other Locations:
Since the late 80s I have conducted workshops for
a number of different fiber associations and at varied locations.
These include Mid-Atlantic Fiber Association, Fiber Fest,
Michigan Fiber Festival, Northeast Handspinners Association,
and the Maine Spinners Registry. I have also taught and/or
lectured for guilds such as the Palisades, North Country
and Third Star Fiber Artists Guilds of New Jersey, Nutmeg
spinners of Connecticut and several other guilds in Vermont
and New York. Topics range from Chemical dyeing,
Color Theory, Blending by Design,
Natural Dyes (Indigo and Cocchineal), Introduction
to Felting, to The Angora and I, and A
Cornucopia of Colors. If you are interested in my
conducting a single or multiple day workshop for your group,
contact me for details.
